One issue that many people deal with when repairing their car independently or having a car repair center fix their car is which kind of auto parts are going to using. There are fundamentally two types of automobile parts you can use to fix a car, and they both will be described, as well as the pros and drawbacks of using each kind of automobile part.
The first kind of automobile part that comes to mind when fixing one's car is OEM car parts. The term "OEM" stands for "oe manufacturer," which means that OEM automobile parts come straight from the company that made the car to begin with. Quite simply, if a person's Chevrolet Cavalier were to fail because of the alternator or basic then an OEM alternator or beginner could be purchased in order to repair the car. The benefit for buying oe manufacturer car parts is the fact that there will generally be considered a guarantee on the part that is bought. In addition, one is usually assured that the part will work and fit the car on the first try.
A downside to buying OEM car parts is the fact they are generally much more expensive that other styles of car parts. Whereas other vehicle parts may be around $50, the same automobile parts that are bought from the OEM may be just as much as $150. The purchase price makes all the difference, too, when restoring your car, so that it may not actually behoove you to purchase OEM automobile parts.
On the other hand, the other kind of auto parts that may be purchased when restoring an automobile is after-market auto parts, or automobile parts that are made for the same auto by third-parties. These car parts are usually much simpler to run into, and even more auto repair shops and retail stores generally take after-market car parts instead of OEM vehicle parts. That is one of the best benefits to buying those types of auto parts, but another is that they are much less expensive than OEM vehicle parts. This is touched on in the last paragraph about OEM parts, but after-market car parts are usually 50% or even more less than the initial manufacturer's auto parts.
All things considered, it is absolutely up to the individual and the problem when the automobile is being fixed. Many people choose OEM car parts because they will be the safest kind of parts to go with, but quarrels for third-party vehicle parts are because they're much cheaper are usually more accessible. Overall, though, there are types of options and decisions to make while looking for auto parts to repair your car!
